Research activities most prominently involve conducting formative and summative studies involving media, media-technology and arts programs for youngsters.  Research is used primarily to aid in the development of new programming; to assess children’s attitudes, preferences, and level of comprehension; and to test the overall effects and appeal of completed programs.  Dr. Miki designs studies to answer specific research questions, conducts large-scale quantitative surveys and in-depth ethnographic research, collects data, moderates focus groups, writes research reports, and disseminates findings.
